Safety poster contestFRANKFORTChelsea Intermediate School fourth-grader Emma Soltis won first place and Hickory Creek Middle School student Michaela Mitchell won second place in the fourth annual Metra Safety Poster Contest. The annual contest is open to students from grades K-12 in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties. The contest is based on creativity, originality, fulfillment of the contest guidelines, and the expression of the contest theme. The first-place winner is awarded a laptop computer, second-place winner gets a $250 gift card and third place winner gets a $100 gift card. The winning entries are printed as the following year's safety posters, displayed in Metra stations, featured in the Metra safety calendar and the Metra screensaver. The students were recognized at a board of education meeting and awarded certificates of achievement. Along with the district students winning honors in the contest, Grand Prairie Elementary School was voted the "Top Participating School." |
