Metra recently announced the winners of its 2008-2009 safety campaign contest, designed to promote railroad safety practices to students in grades K-12 throughout Northeastern Illinois.

Among the 13 first-place winners in the contest were: Victoria Tu, a fifth grader at Shabonee School in Northbrook, and George Finn, a seventh grader at The Art School in Glenview.

Among the 13 second-place winners in the contest were: Anna Lipkind, a fourth grader at The Art School in Glenview and Dominique Bloink an eighth grader from Northbrook (homeschooled).

Among the 13 third-place winners in the contest were: Harrison Swanson, a seventh grader at The Art School in Glenview, and Kristina Tomasic, an eighth grader at The Art School in Glenview.
